About Us

We specialize in providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals, couples, families, and groups facing a diverse range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, gender identity issues, autism, and relationship difficulties. Our team of clinicians offers both in-person sessions at our locations in Bedford, Dartmouth, and Pictou, Nova Scotia, as well as convenient online therapy options.

Our therapists are trained in various evidence-based approaches to therapy, including Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, trauma assessments, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) letters, and Sex Therapy.

For those seeking therapy, the first step is to reach out to us via email at maritimeptc@gmail.com. Our team will then match you with a therapist who best suits your needs. With us, you'll only need to share your story once, as our therapists will guide you through the intake process efficiently and compassionately.

Additionally, we offer specialized training in Play Therapy, which is recognized by the Canadian Association for Play Therapy. Our curriculum focuses on neurodevelopmentally informed interventions utilizing the therapeutic power of play. The program consists of three levels, conducted online via Zoom, from September to June each year.

Level 1 covers foundational topics such as the history and models of Play Therapy, ethical practice, attachment-based therapies, and assessment and treatment planning. Level 2 delves into advanced techniques including Sandtray Therapy, puppetry, adolescent therapy, trauma treatment, and addressing sexual abuse issues. Level 3 explores specialized areas like working with anxious children, family therapy, grief counseling, and integrating expressive arts into therapy.

Our training program provides comprehensive education and practical skills, culminating in certification as a Play Therapist recognized by the Canadian Association for Play Therapy. Whether you're a mental health professional seeking specialized training or an individual seeking therapy, Maritime Play Therapy Centre is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care tailored to your unique needs.
