About Us

Member Since July 2008,

The University of Kansas is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU) and serves as the flagship university for the state of Kansas. Founded in 1865, and now serving over 28,000 students across multiple campuses, the University of Kansas serves as a bastion of global engagement, research and education for the region. The institution supports the expansion of global awareness through numerous debate and international programs, as well as through its five area studies centers (three of which are federally funded), and its newest federally funded National Foreign Language Resource Center, the Open Language Resource Center, established in 2018. With nearly 30% of its students participating in education abroad opportunities prior to their graduation and approximately 7% of its students hailing from over 100 countries around the world, the University of Kansas provides a comprehensive platform for individuals to engage with and learn about the world.

The International Relations Council of Kansas City and the University of Kansas have collaborated on numerous events including the Your Global Future College and Career Fair, and individual programs such as our evening with exiled Venezuelan Mayor David Smolansky.
