About Me

As a Registered Social Worker I have practiced for over 15 years as a frontline worker, educator, program evaluator and manager of social service programs both in Canada and in the international development sector. I have offered group and individual interventions to diverse populations including families of early years children, refugees, newcomers to Canada, teen moms, youth at risk of going into care, older adults, and people with developmental disabilities. I support evidence-based practice; my own research activities, among several, include a pilot study on support workers' perspectives of caregiving for people dually diagnosed with Down Syndrome and Alzheimer's type dementia, the impact of the Wraparound process with young homeless parents in Toronto, parents' experiences with child protection services, and quality of parent-child interactions and aspirations of low-income Bangladeshi families. My diverse experience, advocacy for families and children living in poverty, sensitivity to the issues of vulnerable families from diverse cultures, and understanding of the necessity for effective interventions to ameliorate human hardship has led me to the practice of dispute prevention and conflict resolution. Since 2015, I have been immersed in the work of Family Mediation and I continue to leverage best practice to support families who are seeking fair, peaceful and healthy transitions from conflict situations.
