Modalities:
The first session is 20-25 minutes. In the first session, we will gather some ideas of your presenting concerns and the reason you are seeking psychology. This session is also for us to get to know each other. Thereafter, psychology sessions are usually 45-50 minute weekly sessions. Following our initial 20-25 minute session, we start with psychological assessment. This is usually around two, 45-50 sessions where we gather a better understanding of the possible contributing and maintaining factors surrounding your concerns. The information gleaned from this process will be put into a diagram/flowchart and then discussed with you to inform our treatment goals and approaches. Our progress is tracked using various evidence-based methods. Following this, we will collaboratively work on individualized psychological strategies to address your main concern and follow-up with you at a later time to track your improvements. We use methods gathered from evidenced-based treatments, and can include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
