Dr. A. Jon Stoessl, Professor of Neurology and Director of the Pacific Parkinson’s Research Centre is a world leader in research and clinical activities pertaining to Positron Emission Tomography and movement disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease. He is a pioneer in these fields and provided the first evidence of the placebo effect in Parkinson’s disease is mediated by the release of substantial levels of dopamine in the brain. He is also involved in international collaborations that have led to the discovery of new gene mutations that result in Parkinson-like disorders.
