About Me


John Gilbert has worked tirelessly locally, nationally, and internationally to develop interprofessional education related to collaborative people centered practice. Beginning in British Columbia, he was a founder of the School of Audiology & Sppech Sciences and the College of Health Disciplines. His ideas became one of the pillars of the Robinow Royal Commission on Health. He was founder of the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative. Internationally, he has been involved in education, research, and the development of journals and associations for interprofessional people centred collaborative practice. He is a consultant not only in Canada, but also in the US, UK, Japan, Australia, and Belgium, and is widely recognized as an one of the international experts on this important topic. His personal leadership has led to the development of this concept and its engagement in training and practice in Canada. He is Adjunct Professor, Dalhousie University. Holds the DR. TMA Pai Endowment Chair in Interprofessional Education & Practice, Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Is an Adjunct Professor, University of Technology, Sydney, and a Senior Scholar, WHO Collaborating Centre on Health Workforce Planning & Research, Dalhousie University.
