A little bit about me::
Case Manager| Alcohol and Drug Services
Masters of Psychology Degree and registered Addiction Practitioner with DAPAANZ
I have been volunteering or working in mental health services for over 25 years and I’m now working with the Addiction service at Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty. For the past ten years I have been working in addictions. I have also been receiving supervision monthly for the last 13 years and just completed the Midland Supervision training program.
I have 2 children who keep me on my toes and teach me about the meaning of life. My wife and I and our children hike the beautiful Bay of plenty hills and kayak as much as possible.
I believe strongly in encouraging clinicians to use research to influence their practice while letting their experiences during applied practice shape how they practice. Mistakes combined with self-reflection make us better and self-compassion and compassion for others is the fuel that allows us to help tangata whaiora more effectively, stay motivated and avoid burnout.
My goal as a supervisor is to provide a safe place to work out clinical problems and workplace issues in a confidential setting. I’m also very interested in workplace culture and supporting our teams by being an ally to those who need support to encourage a better, safer workplace.
