Yanik Gosselin

About Me

Originally from the Lake Temiskaming region of northeastern Ontario, Yanik Gosselin is now based in Halifax, traditionally known as Mi'kma'ki. He completed his BMus at the University of Ottawa and his MMus in Opera and Voice at McGill University. He is particularly interested in the art song repertoire and 1970's glam rock, and has a passion for stories and the many ways they can be told, created and shared. Having come to classical music from rock music and conceptual works, he finds creative freedom in transcending genres. By somehow bridging the gap between the chamber concert and the rock concert, he aims to find innovative ways to tell new stories through music and reach audiences differently.

In addition to singing, Yanik works remotely for the Prescott-Russell Arts Council as cultural promotion officer. In this job, he planned events and developed tools (blogs, live chats) to help and support local artists who want to deepen their knowledge of digital platforms and online self-promotion. He looks forward to exploring his interests in production, directing, and project development to create and collaborate on initiatives that make every part of the creative process – from education to performance to research – more accessible to all.
