Dr Subodh Verma is an internationally renowned cardiac surgeon-scientist and the Canada Research Chair in Cardiovascular Surgery. He has held the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Gold Medal in Surgery and is a Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists appointee. He has had leadership roles in several paradigm-changing heart failure trials. He founded the St Michael’s CardioLink platform that originally focussed on cardiac surgery trials and now also studies cardiometabolic disease. He leads a dynamic pre-clinical and translational research team that seeks to identify novel mediators and therapeutic targets of cardiometabolic diseases.
