Dr. Shayan Sharif is Professor and Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies for the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. An international leader in the immunology of infectious diseases, Sharif’s research uncovers the molecular mechanisms of immunity to zoonotic pathogens. An advocate of One Health, he develops novel strategies for enhancing immunity to zoonotic pathogens in animals and for controlling transmission of these pathogens from animals to humans. His innovative research has produced 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, a patent, and has been recognized with a prestigious Pfizer Award for Research Excellence and a university Research Leadership Chair.
