About Us

The John Howard Society of Durham Region is a non-profit, social service agency in Ontario Canada. We are dedicated to servicing individuals and families, youth and adults with programs and services in areas such as relationships, counselling, employment, literacy, housing, eviction prevention, crime prevention, harm reduction, parenting and more The local Oshawa-Whitby Branch was established due to the increase of services and funding in November 1974; with later expansions to Clarington, Ajax and Pickering following in later years.  Most of our services are free and have evolved with needs of our diverse clientele.

Our Program's Vision is to aid individuals in finding stable, gainful employment providing support and education.

Our Agency's Mission is to reduce the impact of crime and its causes by providing a spectrum of effective prevention and intervention programs.

Our Program's Values are that every client matters to us, everyone has something to offer the work place and that every employer has something to offer in the work force.

We will strive here at the John Howard Employment and Training Services to create the right match for the employer, and employee so that each gets the utmost benefit from the relationship.
