Dr. Satyabrata Kar was trained in India, England and Canada and is a Professor at the University of Alberta. His research, producing more than 115 peer-reviewed publications, has yielded crucial insights into the selective loss of neurons in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. His current work focuses on biodegradable nanoparticles as novel therapeutic reagents. Dr. Kar has received many academic awards and recognitions and has created and taught multiple courses for undergraduate and graduate students. His research program has been supported continuously by federal funding agencies and his many trainees who have gone onto successful careers in academia, medicine and biotechnology.
