Bottorff, Joan

About Me


Joan Bottorff is one of Canada’s leading scientists in the field of health behavior. She is currently Professor and Director of the Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus, and has been the recipient of a UBC Distinguished University Scholar Award and a CIHR Investigator Award. She has developed active research programs in tobacco control, cancer screening and health promotion. In the field of gender and health, Dr. Bottorff is also collaborating on projects to examine gender-related influences on women and men's health behaviours. Dr. Bottorff is well known for her expertise in qualitative research methods.
