About Us

Located in Canada's Niagara Region, Vineland Research and Innovation Centre is a uniquely Canadian results-oriented organization dedicated to horticulture science and innovation. We deliver innovative products, solutions and services through an integrated and collaborative cross-country network to advance Canada’s research and commercialization agenda.

We are an independent, not-for-profit organization, funded in part by the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a five-year, federal-provincial-territorial initiative.

Our main innovation programs include: Plant Variety Development – breeding new and enhanced plant varieties; Biological Crop Protection – integrating biological tools for impact; Plant Responses and the Environment – building sustainable landscapes; Consumer, Sensory & Market Insights – developing sensory and consumer-driven strategies; and Automation – putting technology to work for horticulture.

With a highly-skilled team, oversight from an independent Board of Directors, engagement from an international Innovation Advisory Council and collaboration with global partners including a Stakeholder Advisory Council, Vineland's mission is to improve the economic viability, sustainability and competitiveness of horticulture in Canada.
