About Us

With a vision of “nature for all”, the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is a community-based natural resource management agency that works to protect, enhance and sustain healthy watersheds. They were established in 1959 under the Conservation Authorities Act and serve approximately half a million people throughout the Niagara Peninsula watershed, encompassing the Niagara Region and portions of the City of Hamilton and Haldimand County.

The Niagara Peninsula watershed includes lands drained by the Niagara River, Twenty Mile Creek, the Welland River, the Welland Canal, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. NPCA offers watershed programs and services focusing on flood and hazard management, source water protection, species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship and land management.

NPCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in the Province of Ontario and manages 41 Conservation Areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature,?culture?and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.

NPCA is a registered charitable organization.
