Dr. Aaron Schimmer is Director of Research, Senior Scientist and Staff Physician at the Princess Margaret Cancer, University Health Network and Professor of Medicine and Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto. As a Past President of the Canadian Hematology Society, he is an international authority in translational cancer research focused on blood cancers known as leukemia. His pioneering contributions to understanding mitochondrial and metabolic pathways in acute myeloid leukemia cells and stem cells have paved the way for new treatments for the disease. His innovative research has led to a number of clinical trials on new targeted agents.
