About Me
Jeffrey Weitz is Professor of Medicine and Biochemistry at McMaster University where he holds a Canada Research Chair in Thrombosis and the HSFO/J.F. Mustard Chair in Cardiovascular Research. With over 200 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Weitz set the stage for development of thrombindirected anticoagulants and his work on fibrinolysis has provided new insights into the mechanism of plasminogen activator-induced bleeding. Dr. Weitz is Director of the Henderson Research Centre, a joint venture of McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences, and combines basic investigation in coagulation and fibrinolysis with clinical research aimed at diagnosis and treatment of venous and arterial thrombosis.
