About Me


Dr. Vivian Mushahwar is Canada Research Chair in Functional Restoration at the University of Alberta. Her pioneering contributions to the understanding and application of neuromodulation to reactivate the nervous system after neurotrauma or disease are leading to new therapeutic interventions for restoring mobility and preventing secondary complications. She is recognized worldwide for her innovative research. Dedicated to interdisciplinary research and training the next generation of scientists and professionals, she founded the multi-disciplinary Sensory Motor Adaptive Rehabilitation Technology (SMART) Network. She helps national and international agencies in disseminating knowledge, supporting trainees and improving the abilities of persons living with neurological conditions.
