About Me


Dr. David Jenkins is a University Professor, Department of Nutritional Sciences, University of Toronto and, a Staff Physician in the Division of Endocrinology and metabolism, Director of the Clinical Nutrition and Risk Factor Modification Center and Scientist, Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, Unity Health Toronto. He researches dietary prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and cancer. His team was the first to define and explore the glycemic index of foods and show that soluble fibre can lower blood glucose and cholesterol. These nutrition concepts are recognized around the world, and helped shape many national and international dietary guidelines.
