Dr. Tom Hobman is a distinguished cell biologist and virologist whose research is focused on understanding how RNA viruses manipulate host cells to allow replication. He has served in important leadership roles, including on the executive for CIHR panels and journal editorial boards. Recently, Dr. Hobman finished his term as Associate Dean Research Facilities where he oversaw the creation of a network of core facilities that provide expertise and access to state-of-the-art infrastructure for cellular imaging, genomics, transgenics, flow cytometry, lipidomics, and other platforms to hundreds of researchers and their trainees at the University of Alberta and other institutions.
