About Us

Reimagining historic sites as creative educational leaders, community catalysts and engines of progress and social development.

The John Brown Heritage Foundation was founded in 2015 to restore and preserve historic buildings and sites in celebration of Canada's rich heritage, beginning with the John Brown House and the Brown Homestead, the oldest house in the city of St. Catharines. Since then, our mission has expanded well beyond physical conservation, into one working to promote the use of historic sites as vital, dynamic community spaces.

We believe that historic sites are best utilized when they forge meaningful connections between the past, the present and the future, and positively impact their communities. We work to ensure that historic site management becomes an integral part of community planning and development.
