Dr. Tim Bussey is a pioneer in our understanding of memory and perception and has made remarkable contributions to both science and the broader science community in Canada and internationally. The focus of his work is the neuroscience of cognition, and to facilitate translation of that understanding from animal models to humans and back. He is recognized internationally for his innovative development of groundbreaking touchscreen technology to investigate learning and memory in mice. Touchscreen systems allow rodent models to be assessed on complex cognitive tests, similar or identical to those used in humans, which greatly increases translatability of findings to patients.
