About Us

The Welland Development Commission (WDC) was established in 1963 as a non-profit economic development corporation that is under the umbrella of the City of Welland government.

The City's Economic Development works closely with other City departments in order to nurture local economic growth, attract and retain business, encouraging redevelopment, and embrace innovation.

The City's staff of economic development professionals are dedicated to supporting the creation, sustainability, and growth of commercial and industrial communities.

The WDC actively recruits new businesses and industries that are interested in establishing or expanding enterprise within the City. With a customer service focused agenda, the WDC—in collaboration with other City departments—guide potential investors towards an efficient and faster development process.
