About Me
Dr. Ravi Retnakaran is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Toronto and Mount Sinai Hospital. His research focuses on the pathophysiology and treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2DM). His work has demonstrated that pregnancy poses a physiologic challenge to a
woman's body that can provide unique insight into her future risks of both T2DM and cardiovascular disease, and hence an opportunity for their prevention. Furthermore, his research has highlighted the potential reversibility of the underlying disease process early in the course of diabetes, leading to novel strategies for treating T2DM.
