Dr. Tarik Moroy is the current President and Scientific Director of the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montreal (IRCM), an independent biomedical research institution affiliated with the Université de Montréal and associated with McGill University; a position he holds since March 1st, 2006. He is also The Director of the IRCM "Hematopoiesis and Cancer" research unit. Dr Möröy holds the Canada Research Chair in Hematopoiesis and Immune Cells Differentiation. He is a full professor at the Université de Montréal and holds a nomination as adjunct professor at McGill University. Dr. Moroy obtained his PhD in biochemistry from the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, in 1987. He conducted experimental work for his doctoral thesis at the Institut Pasteur in Paris (1984- 1987), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University in New York (1988-1991) with Dr. Frederick Alt. In 1994, he obtained his accreditation to supervise teaching in higher education and research (Habilitation) from the Philipps-University in Marburg, Germany, where he was also an assistant and associate professor between 1991 and 1996. Before his arrival at the IRCM, Dr. Moroy was full professor of molecular cell biology at the Institute for Cell Biology (Institut fu¨r Zellbiologie, IFZ) of the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany.
