Founded in 1979, the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region is a non-profit, charitable
organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life of people living
with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias and their care partners.
For over 40 years, the Alzheimer Society has been a leader in dementia care and
support and we are committed to reducing stigma and making our communities more
Dementia Friendly so that all those living with dementia can feel supported in
their home and throughout Durham Region.
The Society works tirelessly to connect with those living with dementia and their
care partners to ensure they have the support they need during the very
difficult time, of COVID-19. While we have always been in contact through
phone, like many organizations, we've adapted our service and delivery models
to move our education, social and recreation, Young Onset Adult Day program and
family support programs and services online to help ensure those we serve feel
connected, engaged and supported.
Support and education services are also available in French.
