Jhamandas, Jack

About Me


Jack Jhamandas received his BSc in Applied Physics and MSc in Biophysics from the University of Alberta. Following the completion of his MD at the University of Calgary, he completed his clinical training in Internal Medicine and Neurology at the Toronto Western Hospital and the Montreal Neurological Institute. He subsequently obtained his PhD in Neuroscience from McGill University as a Medical Research Council (MRC) Centennial Fellow and in 1987 joined the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta as a MRC Scholar. He is currently Professor of Neurology in the Department of Medicine & Dentistry and holds a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Alzheimer’s Research. Dr. Jhamandas’ research focuses on mechanisms underlying cell death in Alzheimer’s disease and aspects of brain regulation of autonomic function.
