Doyon, Julien

About Me


Dr. Doyon is Full Professor in the Department of Neurology & Neurosurgery at McGill University. He is also the Director of the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre at the Montreal Neurological Institute, as well as Director of the Quebec Bio-Imaging Network. Research in his laboratory aims at investigating, through imaging techniques like functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) as well as psychophysical and lesion studies in humans, the nature and contribution of the neural substrates mediating the different phases of learning and the role of sleep in the consolidation of motor skilled behaviors. In June 2011, he received the 2011 Richard C. Tess of the Canadian Society for Brain, Behaviour and Cognitive Science. This award recognizes an outstanding contribution to the advancement of knowledge and leadership in the field of cognitive neuroscience research. In October 2012, he also received the ACFAS - Léo Pariseau award highlighting scientific excellence, leadership and the international impact of a researcher working in biological and health sciences. In May 2017, he was elected as Fellow to the Canadian Society for Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Science as well as, in June 2017, Fellow of The Royal Society of Canada. Finally, his work is funded through grants from several provincial, national and international grant agencies.
