Dr. Davis, professor and vice-dean in the University of Alberta's School of Public Health received her PhD in Chronic Disease Epidemiology from Yale University in 1984 and, in addition to the CAHS fellowship, is a fellow of the American College of Epidemiology. She has over 175 publications in cancer epidemiology, primarily on topics involving rare cancers. She had a distinguished career at the University of Illinois-Chicago prior to returning to Canada in 2012. While there, she served as division director of epidemiology and biostatistics, senior associate dean and associate dean of research. In addition, she served as research director of the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States, on the Radiation Advisory Committee of the Science Advisory Board, US Environmental Protection Agency and as President of the American College of Epidemiology. After joining the University of Alberta's School of Public Health in 2012, the Urals Research Center for Radiation Medicine in Russia recognized her contributions to international cooperation in the field of radiation epidemiology. Three years later, she became the 2015 recipient of the Geoffrey R. Howe Outstanding Contribution Award from the Canadian Society for Epidemiology and Biostatistics. In Canada she has developed a large collaborative research group that is contributing to our understanding of the epidemiology of brain and rare cancers with CIHR, Brain Canada and Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada funding.
