About Me


Dr. Singh, previously Dean of Veterinary Medicine at University of Calgary (2016-2020), is currently Vice-President, Research at University of Saskatchewan, completed his veterinary training in Punjab followed by a PhD (Guelph) and post-doctoral training at Texas A&M University and Columbia University. Baljit has taught veterinary anatomy and graduate courses in the area of lung cell biology and inflammation. He developed a Faculty-in-Residence program for 600 students at University of Saskatchewan. His teaching work has been recognized internationally (Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Technology), nationally (3M National Teaching Fellowship, Alan Blizzard Award), at the University of Saskatchewan (Master Teacher Award), and in veterinary medicine (Norden Distinguished Professor Award) and a Fellowship from American Association of Anatomists. He also edited the 5th edition of classical Textbook of Veterinary Anatomy. Baljit has done seminal work on the role of pulmonary intravascular macrophages in lung inflammation resulting in >100 papers and mentorship of nearly 100 trainees, receipt of a Pfizer Research Excellence Award, a DAAD Fellowship and Visiting Professorship at the Centre of Excellence in Immunology at Hannover, Germany. He is an editor/section editor of three well-regarded journals. Baljit has reviewed veterinary programs in the US, the UK and Australia, and represented Canada on the Council on Education for Veterinary Medicine. He was served as President of the American Association of Veterinary Anatomists.
