Thomas Pugsley, formerly Senior Vice-President, Falconbridge Ltd, has made significant contributions to modern Canadian mining, while overcoming unique technological, logistical, environmental and social changes. He developed Falconbridge's $550-million Raglan Mine on Quebec's Ungava Peninsula, and despite the remoteness, Raglan is among the world's cheapest nickel producers. He also developed the US$1.8 billion Collahuasi Mine in northern Chile, which is the world's fourth largest copper producer. With other innovations, he introduced full-face tunnel boring to mine exploration, long-raise boring technology, shotcrete to underground mine support and full-face shaft sinking.He managed the Definition, Project Development Concepts and the Bankable Feasibility Study for the Falconbridge/SMSP  60000ktNi, Koniambo Ferronickel Project in Kone, North Province of New Caledonia. He retired in 2004.
