Suzanne Lacasse, Managing Director of Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, is recognized internationally for her contributions to both research and practice in Geotechnical Engineering. She received early recognition for her various research studies into the behavior of soft clays. However, it is her work in Norway, evaluating in-situ behavior of sea-bed soils and establishing the basics for reliability analysis of foundations of offshore structures, that established her international reputation. She maintains frequent contact with Canada and participated actively in projects related to the stability of offshore structures; she is currently President Elect of the Canadian Geotechnical Society.
