About Me

Sher Ali Mirza, Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at Lakehead University, has made extensive contributions to engineering knowledge, especially to fundamental research in structural safety, stability and second-order effects in columns and frames, and analysis for the behaviour of concrete structures. He has served his profession with distinction through his technical and professional committee work for the CSCE and ASCE, and the American Concrete Institute. Both the Canadian and U.S. codes of practice have used the results of his research, and the design methods he developed for bridge inverted T-girders are widely used in North America. He is also co-inventor of the Confined Capping System used for the compressive strength testing of high-strength high-performance concrete.
