Professor Heather Boon, Vice-Provost Faculty and Academic Life at the University of Toronto, is internationally known for her research into the safety, efficacy and regulation of complementary and traditional medicine, especially natural health products. She founded the Canadian Interdisciplinary Network for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research in 2004 and served as President of the International Society for Complementary Medicine Research from 2013-14. From 2014-2018 she was the Dean of the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto. She currently advises Health Canada and the World Health Organization on policy issues related to traditional/complementary medicine products and practices.
