Robert Evans of UBC displays a rare combination of innovative research and practical engineering skills. Throughout his career, he has sought ways to apply his research talents in combustion, applied thermodynamics, IC engines, thermal power generation, and turbomachinery, to real world operational problems of great importance to Canada and the world. This led to him taking a leadership role in the creation of UBC's new Clean Energy Research Centre. Dr. Evans has also made significant contributions to academic life at UBC and the engineering profession through tireless involvement with professional bodies such as SAE, ASME, and others.
