Dr. Klip’s research is focused on understanding how the body controls the levels of glucose in the blood and how this fails in type II diabetes. Her seminal studies have revealed how the GLUT4 glucose transporter is recruited to the cell surface in response to insulin and why obesity blocks this recruitment, leading to diabetes. Her highly cited work has been published in over 200 original publications and about 80 review articles and she has received recognition from national and international agencies including the American Physiological Society, the Canadian Federation of Biological Sciences and the Royal Society of Canada.
