Pierre Lassonde is Chairman of Franco-Nevada Mining Corporation. At age 35, he co-founded and presided over Franco-Nevada, and in 1987 did the same for Euro-Nevada Mining. These companies attained a market capitalization of close to $4B when the company was merged with Newmont in 2002. As a Canadian philanthropist, Pierre Lassonde has donated over $20 million to Canadian engineering faculties and schools to promote the profession. A Member of the Order of Canada, he also serves on the boards of several companies and charitable institutions.
