Peter Kaiser, retired Professor and Chair for Rock Mechanics and Ground Control at School of Engineering of Laurentian University, teaches and conducts research in the field of Rock Engineering with applications to mining, civil engineering and petroleum extraction, and has achieved national and international recognition through his research and consulting. He has been instrumental in the formation and direction of MIRARCO (Mining Innovation, Rehabilitation and Applied Research Corporation), a unique research corporation at Laurentian University that provides a model of university-industry interaction. Through his combined scientific, technical and managerial efforts, Dr. Kaiser has advance the state-of-the art of rock engineering and has established a leading research team that contributes enormously to improved productivity and safety of underground works.
