Throughout a distinguished career, Om Malik of University of Calgary has contributed to the advancement of electrical power engineering through the investigation and development of digital control and protection techniques.  Dr. Malik has contributed to Canadian society and to his profession through his extensive research, through his teaching activities at the University of Calgary, and through the international collaborations which he has initiated.  He continues to publish in peer-refereed journals and to train graduate and post-graduate researchers, while participating in the work of Canadian and international professional committees.
