Professional Biography

I am a licensed clinical psychologist, specializing in Police and Public Safety Personnel; wellness and trauma in uniformed first responders and disaster response personnel. In my clinical work, I also specialize in high-risk complex patients. Currently,  I am a member of the Northern Illinios Critical Incident Stress Management Team, IMERT/IDPH, and the HHS/NDMS/D-MORT-VIC teams.  In the past 25 years, my work has included clinical work, crisis/disaster response and deployment, organizational consultation, graduate level teaching and research, professional seminars, PEPE assessment, mentoring, and contributing to ongoing work in the field, including guidelines for best practices, policy, book chapters, and direct clinical support services.  I participate on the ethics committee for the IACP-PPS, and the IL-ACP-OWC committee and MHW workgroups. I am an embedded psychologist focusing on officer wellness for the Bartlett (IL) Police Department.  My VITA is available upon request.  My interests are focused on mitigating traumatic stress and improving health and wellness in our responders. Currently I participate and offer small-group intensive trauma retreats for UFR personnel that are fully funded by Haymarket Center in Chicago.  These 4-day retreats include education and support, for post-traumatic and critical incident stress and intervention for UFR personnel, provided by culturally competent MH professionals and peer support.
