Professional Biography


Cynthia is originally from Puerto Rico and is a member of the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology, certifiedtrauma specialist, and advanced restorative justice practitioner. Cynthia is a career victims’ rights advocate who has spent 13 years in the court systemsupporting survivors of complex trauma, developing trauma-informed communityprograms, and providing specific training for law enforcement. Cynthia is a member of the State of Georgia’s Human Trafficking Task Force, Fulton County Family Violence Task Force, Spelman College’s Coordinated Community Response Team, and regularly guest lectures on victimology and social work protocols to undergraduate and graduate students. Cynthia believes in cultivating a culture of purpose that empowers us to pursue our passions to effect large-scale positive impact. Cynthia was recently recognized as Georgia State University’s 40 under 40 Alumni and selected to Michigan Institute of Technology (MIT) & Stand Together Venture Labs’ Unbundle Policing Accelerator Program. Cynthia is the Program Manager at Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation where she created and developed the first mobile outreach unit dedicated to survivors of intimate partner abuse in GA.
