About Me

Moyra McDill, Professor Emeritus, Carleton University, was the first woman to complete a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering at Carleton, the first to join the faculty in that Department, and the first woman to be promoted to full professor in that Faculty. She has mentored and advised hundreds of engineering students (both men and women) and helped them succeed in their studies. Her developments for numerical analysis in materials engineering have been adopted by several international academic and industrial organizations. Her continued appointment to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission confirms her commitment to excellence and public safety. More recently, she has been working in Sweden, with positions including Visiting Researcher at Chalmers University of Technology (Gothenburg) and Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Skövde (Skövde).
