Dr. Bart J. Leger has been helping people recover from
trauma related crisis through counseling and education for the past 30 years.
He has served various churches in Alabama and Louisiana, spent many years in
the business sector and for the last 18 years has served in fire services and
law enforcement in various capacities. Dr. Leger has also provided consulting
services to over 300 schools throughout the United States.

Dr. Leger is an Approved Instructor for the International Critical Incident
Stress Foundation (ICISF) teaching various CISM courses.

Dr. Leger has received certifications as a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic
Stress from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, Board
Certified Pastoral Counselor from the American Association of Christian
Counselors/International Board of Christian Counselors, Board Certified Crisis
Response Therapist, and Credentialed Diplomate Chaplain with the International
Conference of Police Chaplains. He is also a trained Crisis Negotiator.

Dr. Leger is the Founder of StressCareDoc, providing multi-component wellness
education and program management and consultation for business, industrial and
first responder organizations. These services include Stress Management,
Training and Education, Consultation, Psychological First Aid, and grief
recovery utilizing Emotional, Physical, Nutritional and Spiritual components.
He also serves as a P.O.S.T. Certified Deputy Sheriff/Chaplain in the Human
Resources Division of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, lead trainer and
mental health educator for Southern Law Enforcement Foundation, a law
enforcement CISM team for the state of Louisiana, and law enforcement academy
instructor. He is a Full member of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Leger is available for speaking engagements and his organization is
prepared and available to assist with crisis response and training.

QPR Suicide Awareness and Prevention

Enhancing Chaplain/Officer Response to Persons with Mental Illness
This course is designed to raise chaplain/officer's awareness of the most
common types of mental illness they will encounter as they respond to persons
in crisis. It will provide practical strategies and communication techniques to
facilitate productive encounters to persons with mental health issues.

Public Safety De-Escalation Tactics for Military Veterans in Crisis
Public Safety De-escalation Tactics for Military Veterans in Crisis (PSDTMVC)
focuses on strengthening the skills and capacity of law enforcement officers
and educates relevant public safety personnel in responding to a wide variety
of calls for service involving military veterans in crisis and their families.
The fundamental premise for the course is that military veterans experience a
unique set of circumstances upon reintegrating into society post deployment.
Veterans can suffer physical and psychological aftereffects from traumatic
experiences that can culminate in injury to themselves, their families and
public safety/law enforcement personnel. Based on this premise, PSDTMVC will
deliver specialized training and practical guidance to provide participants
with the capacity to understand and address the unique circumstances that
veterans can experience as a result of military deployment.

Critical Incident Management
This training prepares a person to serve on a peer support team and provide
psychological first aid and support all the way from pre-incident to follow-up.

Compassion Fatigue
This training is designed for professionals serving in the helping professions.
Its goal is to help the helper take care of themselves and avoid burnout.

How to Start a Chaplaincy Program in Your Department
This training will guide the first responder agency through the process of
starting and maintaining a chaplaincy program for their department.

Packing Your Parachute
This training will help the helping professional prepare for traumatic stress
and covers issues such as compassion fatigue, stress management, and
resiliency.

How to Do Death Notifications
This course addresses specific strategic principles designed to prepare the
Chaplain or Officer to deliver a more effective death notification

This course assists law enforcement personnel and chaplains in recognizing and
dealing with all aspects of the Stress Management, Burnout, CISM and Post Shoot

This course deals with moral decisions faced by law enforcement officers and

Law Enforcement Stress & Burnout
Stress is an inherent factor in Law Enforcement. This course provides a basic
understanding of the human stress responses and teaches how to avoid and
recover from burnout and compassion fatigue.
