Dr. Romano has been teaching in higher education since 2006,
and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in counseling and forensic
psychology. Currently, Dr Romano owns a coaching and academic interventions business.  With the COVID-19 pandemic over the past 18 months, children and adults in school are in need of extra assistance to catch up.  Her specialty is in assessment and treatment of adults and children, with an emphasis on child led therapy for trauma and behavioral disorders. Dr. Romano received her Doctor of Psychology, Masters in General Psychology and Certificate in Humanitarian Assistance in Global Health from Loma Linda University, and her undergraduate BS in Psychology Cum Laude from University of La Verne. Additionally, she is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Kaplan University online.

Dr. Romano's work specializes in early intervention with developmentally and
behaviorally "at risk" children, abused, neglected, victims of torture and
trafficked children, correctional psychology with violent offenders and
sexually violent predators, chronic and persistent psychology, borderline,
antisocial and other severe personality disorders, psychopathy,
neurodevelopmental and forensic assessment, acute stress disorder and
post-traumatic stress disorder treatment with victims of violence and crimes,
disaster clients, military, and first responders. She has specialized training
in substance abuse and domestic violence, and Gestalt Psychology. She has
worked in several maximum-security prisons in California and Illinois.
Additionally, she assisted in developing a re-entry program for parents in jail
with young children. She holds certifications in Parent-Infant Mental Health
from Fielding Institute, the NCAT-SW Teaching and Feeding Scales measuring
attachment between parent and child, from the University of Washington, she is
certified and a trainer for Parent-Child Interaction Therapy from UC Davis, and
is certified and a trainer for the forensic assessment, Child Assessment of
Needs and Strengths from the University of Quebec, and she is a Diplomate,
American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress in collaboration with the
National Center for Crisis Management

Listed in Professional Directory of The American Academy of Experts in
Traumatic Stress and listed in the International Deployment Directory of the
National Center for Crisis Management. She was the pro-bono Evaluator for the
Veterans Court in San Bernardino, and assisted in developing their program
goals and objectives. She participated pro-bono in the Cal State University San
Bernardino's research project conducting group assessments with offenders in
the San Bernardino County Jail system to assess common factors in
multigenerational incarceration, and to assess the needs of offenders, and
develop programs to promote attachment with their children, and reduce the
cycle of incarceration. Dr. Romano's volunteer experience also includes the
Rape Crisis Center in Redlands, the Laguna Beach Community Clinic, Loma Linda
University Medical Center Children's Hospital, Inland Aids Project, DMAT, RACES
CERT team.

Dr. Romano joined the American Red Cross in 1981. As an emergency, medical technician
(EMT), she participated in providing first aid services in the First Aid
Services Team (FAST) with the American Red Cross at events such as the Los
Angeles Olympics, Rose Parade, Orange County Fair, a FAST team member
responding to the Aero Mexico Airplane Crash in Cerritos, and various other
national and local disasters, mass casualty incidents, and fire camps. She has
chaired numerous programs with the American Red Cross, including the speaker's
bureau, disaster welfare inquiry (DWI), family services, public information
officer (PIO), and she has been the Director of Volunteers and the Mental
Health Lead. She has worked in numerous large and small disasters local and
nationally including fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and mass casualty
incidents such as train and airplane crashes, police actions, and terrorist
attacks. She has served in positions ranging from disaster surveillance,
records and reports manger, family services, advanced family services and
building and repair, government liaison, disaster welfare inquiry officer after
the Mexico City Earthquake as the American Red Cross's welfare contact number
for the United States. As PIO Chairman and Disaster Coordinator in Orange
County she has written numerous press releases, and been interviewed by local
and national media during disasters. In developing mental health services for
the American Red Cross, she participated as the Family Services Liaison to the
Committee developing the Mental Health Services program. She assisted in writing
the policies and procedures manual for the initial American Red Cross Mental
Health Services Policies and Procedures Manual (3000 series). She was trained
with the original team in debriefing and defusing of first responders, as a
peer counselor in the 1980's. Since that time, she has participated in
counseling survivors of disasters and their families including providing mental
health assistance to survivors and victims' families of multicausality events
listed above, and the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center
in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, DC, including American Airlines, and
the United Airlines crash in Pennsylvania. Finally, she has assisted in the
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant during
a nuclear reactor threat, and was a job director during the Northridge
Earthquake. She has taught numerous disaster and health and safety courses for
the American Red Cross Chapters in Southern California. Over the years Dr.
Romano has been a recipient of numerous pins and awards, and their Golden
Circle Award for her contributions.

parenting classes and dyad treatment is included in the In-Roads program. The
In-Roads program has a very high success rate, with low recidivism
rates.Surveyed 80-page assessments on over 300 women in the San Bernardino
County Jails to plan programs for them and their young children.
