Dr. Raymond D. Shelton is an author, consultant,
international conference presenter, workshop and seminar leader. He has been a
member of the Emergency Service community for 40 years, serving as a fire
fighter and EMS educator. As co-author of the book Comprehensive Acute
Traumatic Stress Management, he develops programs in the hospital, corporate,
government, mental health, religious and emergency service communities to
safely and effectively manage the stress of crisis and catastrophe.

Dr. Shelton provides consultation and training to organizations in the
development and implementation of the Comprehensive Acute Traumatic Stress
Management (CATSM) program. Dr. Shelton regularly provides expert commentary to
the media regarding traumatic stress following traumatic incidents. His
seminars and workshops cover a wide range of topics and have been described as
high energy, practical and down to earth. His presentation style allows each
participant to feel personally involved and connected to the material.

Managing a School-Based CRISIS
From professional development workshops to superintendent's conference days,
this dynamic presentation will empower all members of the school family. Beyond
"who calls who" and "who does what," attendees will learn practical skills to
address the emotional needs of people during and in the aftermath of a crisis.
By reaching members of the school family early, we can keep people functioning,
mitigate ongoing emotional suffering and restore the educational process.

All attendees will need to purchase a copy of A Practical Guide for Crisis
Response in Our Schools. With over 150 thousand copies in print,this guide is
the most widely utilized school crisis response plan in the world. Attendees at
the workshop training programs are additionally provided with the opportunity
to complete an examination for Board Certification in School Crisis Response

Acute Traumatic Stress Management
Based on the Acute Traumatic Stress Management intervention model, this program
aims to empower all health care providers and emergency responders to look
beyond the physical and safety needs of people and also address emergent psychological
needs. Attendees will have the opportunity to complete an application and
examination for Board Certification in Acute Traumatic Stress Management. For

Preparing for Crisis / Disaster & Catastrophe Response
This program prepares organizations and First Responders to effectively and
safely deal with a crisis. First Responders from various organizations are also
provided with the tools necessary to assist individuals who were involved in a
crisis event. Additionally, stress management techniques are presented to
insure the overall health of the responder's physical, mental and emotional
well-being.

Managing Stress in Emergency Service
This seminar presents the issue of stress as it relates to Fire, Police and EMS
personnel and is based on Dr. Shelton's book: EMS Stress, An Emergency
Responders Handbook for Living Well; Stress and its effect on the Physical,
Mental, Emotional, Social and Spiritual aspects of the responder is discussed.
In addition, the impact of Traumatic Incidents on responders is explained. This
program further discusses the impact Emergency Service Stress has on
relationships. Techniques are presented to assist responders with managing this
powerful stress as well as methods to guard against destructive relationship
patterns.

Crisis and Traumatic Stress – Role of the Manager, Supervisor, Line Officer
Crisis in the lives of employees are experienced in a variety of ways, many of
which create traumatic stress reactions. First responders and Catastrophe
response personnel are exposed to difficult, traumatic events in the
performance of their work. The role of managers, supervisors and line officers
includes insuring the safety and well-being of staff. This program discusses
Crisis and Traumatic Stress as it relates to Safety and performance. Various
intervention methods are discussed that will allow management personnel to
protect staff during crisis events while ensuring their safety and ability to
perform.
