Grant Pierce is Executive Director of Research at St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg, and has made pioneering contributions to the identification of a cardiomyopathy in diabetes and to determining an important mechanism responsible for ischemic heart disease. He is now a leading researcher in nutraceuticals and cardiovascular disease, creating one of the largest of these groups in North America. He is Editor of the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, and the only Manitoban to serve as the Chair of all peer review for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Dr. Pierce has published 200 manuscripts that have attracted more than 4000 citations.
