Guyatt, Gordon

About Me


Dr. Gordon Guyatt is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University. He is a general internist and epidemiologist who has written 700 publications on topics such of quality of life, technology assessment, and clinical decision-making. He has conducted randomized trials in heart and lung disease, evaluated many health services, and he has led new methodologic developments for systematic reviews and practice guidelines. Dr. Guyatt coined the term ‘Evidence Based Medicine’. Under his leadership, practitioners worldwide have learned how to access, critically appraise, and apply findings from the medical literature to their patients.
