Kenneth (Ken) G. Thomas, was formely Global MD, Hatch; COO, Crystallex International Corp (Gold); and for 14 years serving in progressively senior executive roles at Barrick Gold, finally as SVP Technical Services.  He successfully developed from research through engineering, construction and commissioning, two of the world's largest gold processing plants for refractory ores; high-pressure autoclaving and oxygenated roasting. He has also written a book on Hydrometallurgical Engineering. He directed research into thiosulphate, a benign chemical, for the leaching of gold as an alternate for cyanide leaching; two patents were awarded.
He was previously on the Board of the Canadian Institute Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, serving as President 2017/18. The CIM awarded Ken the Blaylock Medal and the Airey Award for advancemnet internationally of mining facilities.
Additionally, he has served on several Boards as a Director and is presently Lead Director of Collective Mining.
