About Me

Josephine Hill is an international leader in catalysis and advancing the sustainability of chemical reactions in chemical and petroleum engineering. Her work has contributed to the development of solid-oxide fuel cells, and the conversion of waste materials, such as petroleum coke and wood residues, to carbon-based materials for hydrotreating catalysts and adsorbents for water treatment. She has been a transformational leader through her activities in promoting catalysis in Canada (as Chair of the Catalysis Division of the Chemical Institute of Canada) and in supporting and encouraging women to pursue careers in engineering. Her efforts have been acknowledged through numerous awards including a Canada Research Chair, Minerva Mentoring Award, and APEGA Research Excellence Summit Award.
