Rachubinski, Richard

About Me

Dr. Rachubinski's research has led to a molecular mechanistic understanding of peroxisome assembly and of how assembly goes awry in the peroxisome biogenesis disorders (PBDs). Elucidation of the genes and pathways involved in peroxisome biogenesis and knowledge of the dysfunctionality in these systems that results in the clinical manifestations of the PBDs have provided an initial therapeutic treatment for these diseases. At the University of Alberta, he has built a world-class department focused on mechanistic cell biology and has recruited exceptional investigators working to link cell structure with function. He has received numerous national and international awards for scientific excellence.
